Montego Bay weather forecast - the first step before planning a trip
One of the reasons that people go to Jamaica in the first place is to take advantage of the year-round warm Caribbean climate. Temperatures fluctuate little over the course of the year. The hottest months are July and August, with an average high of 90 (32) degrees and lows in the lower 70s (23 C). This differs little, however, from the coldest months of January through March, when highs hover around 86 (30 C) degrees, and lows are in the upper 60s (20 C). The rainy season is May through October, with September and October being the wettest months, receiving about four inches of rain each. Jamaicans will tell you that rains are brief and usually followed by sunshine, and that overcast days are rare. Jamaica is technically in the Caribbean hurricane belt, but sees very few actual hurricanes. In the last fifty years, the island has averaged about one hurricane per decade. One of the biggest factors in deciding when to go to Jamaica is that during the peak season hotels are booked months in advance, everything is more expensive, and the island is packed with tourists. Consider going in the off season, when resort rates drop thirty to fifty percent. The peak season is in the winter, from December 15 to April 14.
